Sam Bridger BA (Hons), MBA, MIEx (Grad), FCMI

Our credentials: From college to Export Expert …

The person behind Bridger Consultancy is Sam Bridger.  Becoming an expert in export wasn’t something planned. After graduating from University of West London with a BA (Hons) Applied Language Studies, she was hired by a local company, Ultraframe PLC, a manufacturer of unique conservatory roofing systems to liaise with their German customer base. This deep dive into the world of export operations could involve anything from production scheduling to finance to sales. This experience showed Sam the value export adds to business.

Sam completed the Institute of Export professional courses*, and now as a qualified manager and more experience working in more experienced export companies, came the first major export challenge, setting up the first ever export department to sell a range of products included high-street brands such as Teletubbies™, Wallace & Gromit™ and Bob the Builder™.

  • Advanced Certificate in Overseas Trade
  • Diploma in Export Management MIEx (Grad)

… to cars and Mazda

With a hunger for knowledge, Sam undertook an MBA at Lancaster University.  As part of the MBA, she consulted for Mazda Motors (Europe) Ltd. to analyse the impact this had on the business and make recommendations to the board on the change in distribution policy, moving from independent distributors to wholly owned Mazda subsidiaries. The project’s recommendations were implemented; a success which meant a job offer for Sam in Sales managing 5 Mazda subsidiaries, covering 80% of the European market.

A move to marketing meant working in brand and responsibility of launching Mazda’s icon: the 3rd generation Mazda MX-5, bringing together all aspects of the business for a successful product launch:  production, marketing, sales, finance, customer services, technical, sales planning and PR. After which she was offered a new role created specifically to manage the launch process, as well as managing European product training.

Back to the UK

Returning to the UK, Sam saw the opportunity of working with businesses and undertook training to qualify as a coach with a Foundation in Coaching Practice from I-coach academy.

Before starting Bridger Consultancy. After several years in business, Sam was approved as a Fellow of Charter Management Institute.
