… to cars and Mazda
With a hunger for knowledge, Sam undertook an MBA at Lancaster University. As part of the MBA, she consulted for Mazda Motors (Europe) Ltd. to analyse the impact this had on the business and make recommendations to the board on the change in distribution policy, moving from independent distributors to wholly owned Mazda subsidiaries. The project’s recommendations were implemented; a success which meant a job offer for Sam in Sales managing 5 Mazda subsidiaries, covering 80% of the European market.
A move to marketing meant working in brand and responsibility of launching Mazda’s icon: the 3rd generation Mazda MX-5, bringing together all aspects of the business for a successful product launch: production, marketing, sales, finance, customer services, technical, sales planning and PR. After which she was offered a new role created specifically to manage the launch process, as well as managing European product training.
